Welcome to the new season! After months of preparation, we’re very excited to finally be able to share our food with you! I’m also excited to be back in the role of “sharing the farm” with you each week, after a few year’s hiatus. Sara Davies, who started our Blog and wrote for several years, is off on her own adventure of growing and selling flowers in her new Wild Child Flower Company business…..more on that later!! I’ll do my best to fill her shoes…..
As many of you may have heard, we’ve had some changes on the farm this year. Our long term farmers and owners, Jack Gray, Mary Jo Wade, Wali and Jabrila Via, have been exploring and working toward farm succession the last few years. This year those efforts came to fruition when Chris and Shannon Overbaugh took over the vegetable portion of Winter Green Farm. Since they have both been on the farm for 20 years, the transition has been fairly seamless. The “old folks” will continue to work on the farm as crew, each continuing on in their area of expertise, and will also be here to offer support & advice from their years 30 years of farming experience and knowledge.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Open House Potluck Celebration….the heat kept most folks away, but we sure enjoyed our time with those who did attend…the food was awesome and Deb Talamas really got creative with her fruit salad….
Everyone enjoyed a “warm” hayride and the kid’s enjoyed the craft tables and games!
The “boys” making cork skewer bumble bees!
Ella Mae planting some sunflower seeds…
We look forward to sharing the season with you all, and introducing you to our new crew, and filling you in on all that we’re up to throughout the season…we’ve got an amazing bunch of young folks on the farm this year from a wide variety of experiences. While we anticipate the beginning of the season to go smoothly, we do appreciate your patience the first week or two while we train our new drivers, Erik and Lucas…I’ll be along on deliveries this first week, so hopefully I’ll have the pleasure of seeing a few of you while you’re retrieving your boxes.
We thank you so much for choosing Winter Green Farm to grow your food this season, and we have great hopes for an abundant and fruitful year!! So glad you’ll be along for the ride!
Hope you all have a great week!
Linda and all of your farmers…..
